Why is Music Important?

In the beginning was the word

Or perhaps the sound of music. I read in Scientific American several years ago that the organizing force of the stuff of the universe was a sound wave! And of course that brought to mind the opening of John's gospel quoted above. And that supported what I had always thought, music reaches the deepest parts of us, our very atoms. We are, of course, made of the same stuff as the stars (a magical thought to me). And then I read that our atoms are replaced at least once a year (Quora.com article on the subject), and some say every 4 days, so that you and I all share the same atoms from time to time as well as atoms that were in Galileo's body, Jesus's, Hitler's, well... everyone!

Somehow this makes me feel less alone.
